Apparently today is National Startups Day (there’s a hashtag and everything), so we decided to get in on the action and ask our Twitter followers for the best business advice they’d ever received…

Being sharing, caring types, allow us to share the best answers we received.
John Kershaw, who heads up dating tech platform startup M14 Industries, hit the ground running with three tips…
1. ?Lean on the networks we already have
2. ?Don't go to Ldn and back in a day (stay overnight)
3. ?Lower your expectations around funding https://t.co/4wGB1t9Kxq— John ? Kershaw (@wardrox) October 13, 2016
Cooden Tax Consulting may have been a little self-promotional in their tip, but it’s a good one. You’d be crazy not to take advantage of every tax break you can. Make that runway go further.
Best advice on #NationalStartupsDay @TechNorthHQ, get the most out of your #funding & talk to someone about #RnDTaxRelief, preferably me!

Richard Gascoigne, CTO of ed-tech company Solutionpath, says you have to “show, not just tell.” And given it doesn’t snow as much as it used to in the UK, we’ll assume the grit he means is the ‘hustle and determination’ kind. Having some grit for your carpark in preparation a cold snap is probably a good idea too, though.
Get out there, do anything & everything & show, not just tell, oh, & grit, you need lots of grit.. @DTPSolutionPath #NationalStartupsDay https://t.co/gmiLkT7JOG

Dylan McKee builds on that with a book recommendation for getting to know your market and he has good advice on prototyping.
@TechNorthHQ read The Mom Test and build a prototype quickly (ideally without involving any code) that you're happy to throw away fast… ?

And finally, let’s go back to John with some location advice (kind of).
Move to London.
THAT IS A JOKE PLEASE DONT. https://t.co/4wGB1t9Kxq
