Deliverd has been offering a clever twist on lunch delivery in Sheffield a year, and now it’s taking the idea nationwide – with another clever twist.
In case Deliverd has passed you by to date, it sells healthy, nutritious lunches, prepared using the excess capacity in other businesses’ kitchens. So restaurants, cafes and pubs produce the meals to order each morning, reducing Deliverd’s overheads versus its rivals.
Scaling that kind of operation to multiple cities isn’t simple, so while it works on rolling out this service to other areas, Deliverd has today launched the ‘Chef Box,’ available nationwide for next-day delivery.
With the Chef Box, you can choose from a number of different menu options, customised based on your preferences each week by a ‘personal chef.’ Each meal costs £5.50 and is delivered in a biodegradable box that Deliverd says will keep the contents fresh for 24 hours.
Here’s the company’s example of what you get and how to prepare it for eating:

While companies like JustEat and Deliveroo get the largest serving of attention in the UK meal delivery market, Deliverd founder Paul Rawlings is a smart cookie with a successful past (he previously founded interactive screens firm Screach in Newcastle). He’s building something different here that it’s well worth keeping on your radar…
…and maybe in your tummy, too.
