North East tech firms: apply for this exchange trip to Atlanta

26 Jul, 2017

The North is developing a stronger connection to the South… the South of the USA, that is.

Atlanta, Georgia is gearing up to welcome European startups to the city as part of an exchange programme. As its name implies, the 2017 Atlanta International Startup Exchange will also see tech firms from the city head to Europe.

The three European cities taking part are Toulouse, London and Newcastle. North East accounting software powerhouse Sage is leading the Newcastle part of the programme, as its global headquarters are in Newcastle, while its North American HQ is in Atlanta.

Sage is looking for two North-East based startup or scaleup businesses to take part. The idea is to encourage more export business between the UK and the USA. Atlanta seems to be a good place for Northern companies to consider setting up a US base. In addition to Sage, our Northern Stars alum Dream Agility recently opened up a presence in the city. A recent trade mission from the North showed the North and Atlanta could learn a lot from each other, too.

Apply now

Based in the North East of England? Interested in taking part? Your application will need to include a video that introduces the business, employee-base and tells the judges why you want to be part of the exchange programme.

The application deadline is 11th August. The first 50 entrants get a free 12-month subscription to Sage One online accounting and payroll software, as a nice sweetener.

If you’re successful, you’ll need to be available to travel to Atlanta in early October. Don’t miss your chance to apply!
