Last night saw the Northern Stars regional heats kick off at a packed venue in Leeds.
10 companies pitched, giving the judges a challenging task in picking the winner. In the end, they chose Synap, a local startup founded by medical students. Tackling their own pain point, they developed the product to make studying for exams more efficient.
Synap is now guaranteed a place in the Northern Stars grand final in November. The other companies that pitched still have a chance of being selected for the final too.
You can find the full list of companies that pitched here. Thanks to our judges, GP Bullhound‘s Ed Prior, Campus Capital‘s Samantha Deakin Hill, and Colin Glass OBE of WGN .

Big thanks to our Northern Stars Premium Partner, Accelerate Places, offering creative and inspiring coworking spaces in Manchester city centre.
There’s still time to get involved
Startup entrepreneurs can still apply for Northern Stars 2017. Full details here.
You can still book tickets for the regional heats in Liverpool (28 September) and Newcastle (12 October). Get them while you can! Tickets for the grand final will be available in due course.
