What you missed when Northern Stars rolled into Liverpool

26 Sep, 2016

Northern Stars continued last week in the incredible surroundings of The Crypt at Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral and it was great to see the high standards set in Sheffield, continue in the North West.

Eleven of the region’s top startups pitched to advance to the Grand Final on 17 November, with specialisms ranging from augmented reality gaming through to edtech. And the standard of the pitches did not disappoint.

Here’s an overview of the companies you missed…

Dream Agility – a Google-award-winning adtech company responsible for the UK’s first patent-pending, next-generation shopping platform.

Fissara – a cloud-based software suite to automate your teams, processes and paperwork in one system.

Kuorum.org – an online service that helps politicians and social leaders turn followers into voters, donors and volunteers, whilst saving up to 70% in digital campaign costs.

LivingLens captures and analyses video content via speech, actions and sentiment, translating human behaviour and attitudes into data and insight.

Magna – bridging the gap between boutique fitness studios and independent instructors, and potential clients. Whether it’s yoga, rock climbing or paddle boarding, Magna has it.

Collabco (myday) – a customisable cloud-based dashboard for academic institutions / schools, colleges and universities that collects, displays and pushes information from disparate IT systems.

onShowcase a platform to help schools use social media efficiently and safely as both a communication and a marketing channel.

ORCHA – provides a live resource of reviewed and rated health and care apps which can be easily searched, compared, recommended, and downloaded through its platform.

Ruler Analytics – a visitor level website analytics, call and lead tracking software redefining web analytics to make data actionable and accurate.

SwapBots – collectable and customisable toys brought to life on smartphones and tablets using augmented reality.

Vibe Tickets – a fan-to-fan platform, which allows real fans to connect, buy and sell tickets at face value prices or below, cutting out the ticket tout middlemen.

And the winners are…

With such tough competition, both the judge and audience vote were fiercely contested, with two winners coming to the fore.

We’re delighted to announce the two startups progressing to the Grand Final are…

LivingLens Northern Stars

LivingLens (judge vote)

SwapBots Northern Stars

SwapBots (audience vote)

There’s still time to apply…

If you’re an early-stage tech business in the North, you still have time to apply for this year’s competition, with applications closing on 9th October. Don’t miss out on this fantastic opportunity to gain massive exposure for your startup.
