8 Sep, 2017

The 2017 edition of Northern Stars kicks off in Leeds on Thursday 14 September, with the inaugural event of this year’s competition due to set the bar very high.

With less than a week to go, we’re excited to announce the 10 tech startups due to pitch in front of a capacity crowd of investors, press and tech industry peers.

Aerobit Health – developers of an intelligent inhaler, designed to empower asthma sufferers to breathe easy.

BigChange – the paperless way to plan, manage, schedule and track any mobile workforce.

Calls9 – replaces traditional intranets with a knowledge management, document storage, team chat and company-wide search in a single product across desktop, tablet and mobile.

Cloudtrainer Limited – learning management system to setup, create, deliver, track & manage your organisations learning and development anytime, anywhere.

Connectably – brings together multiple business functions and software, in one web app, so you can run your business better.

Evidential – using VR and AR to create a training simulator which will allow Police Officers to be immersed into new or previous scenarios.

Hark – a cloud-based sensor platform that monitors, stores and analyses sensor data in real time.

Kwizzbit – an innovative, interactive quiz platform which can be played over wifi, via a smartphone.

Synap – an intelligent learning platform that uses machine learning to help students and professionals to learn more in less time.

Tutorful – uses student reviews and a powerful algorithm to help students and parents find the best local tutors for private, one-to-one tuition.

After the pitches, our judges will select just one lucky company to be fast-tracked into the Grand Final, although the others will still be in the running for the Northern Stars Grand Final as decided by an expert Selection Panel, with all finalists announced towards the end of October.
