If you’re a data-focused startup, the Open Data Institute has an accelerator programme coming up that might be perfect for you. You’ll need to act fast though, as the deadline for applications is this coming Monday, 11th July.
This isn’t quite the same deal as many other accelerators out there. Rather than being an intensive three-month programme, the ODI Startup Accelerator is a whole year long. It includes office space (the ODI has a substantial ‘node’ in Leeds, where some of the selected companies will be based); a support team for things like finances, HR, communications and administration; a week-long introductory bootcamp; showcase events, and much more.
A different kind of accelerator
The equity stake that the ODI will take in participating startups is flexible, up to a maximum of 10 percent. This means it could work out little more expensive than some other accelerators, especially as it doesn’t include monetary investment. But it’s much longer, and a very different kind of offering that may suit your company.
“We have an invaluable network, are innovators within the industry and have strong ties to government and business that can help facilitate useful conversations for early stage startups,” says Rachel Leech, Head of Network at the Open Data Institute “The administrative support included as part of the programme also means that startups can fully focus on their product offering without worrying about difficult or cumbersome back-end processes.”
Data-oriented startups at all stages, anywhere in the world are invited to apply. They just need to be base themselves in the UK for a year from August 2016.
If you’re interested, you have until midnight on Monday night to apply.
